This love affair with fabrics and natural dyes has been growing and swelling, and I’m so delighted to offer the first fruits of that obsession.
I never considered too deeply (I’m sad to say) the energetics of the fabric that we lay on our bodies, all day every day. Synthetic fibers, artificial dyes..
I’ve spent almost a decade focused on the jewelry and adornments - overlooking the base material all of that is laid against.
This scarf, “October”, is pure, autumnal magic.. captured on 15” x 60” pure silk. Everyone knows that time of year when the hard, green walnut husks litter the ground.. the nights grow just a wee bit longer, a wee bit colder. The earth prepares. I love how the vibes - the energy - of a season can be conveyed through the dyes and colors of the natural world. October is moody. Soft bronze, chocolate brown, tipped into slate gray by a touch of iron - as you see here in the striped patterning.
Everything feels a bit richer, a bit more luxe.. as if to invite us inside, with a strong tea and a crackling fire. If October were a scarf- this would certainly be it.
