The “SilKIN” is so very dear to my heart and soul. Every inch of these talismans has been pored over, and imbued with intention, care, and connection to the natural world. I believe there is such a portal to the world of spirit - through the lens of nature.
This talisman features Citrine and Carnelian on silk dyed with mugwort.
Citrine, the yellow/orange form of Quartz Crystal, has been called the “merchant’s stone”- due to its long-standing association with prosperity, abundance, and manifestation. It brings a sunny warmth to the wearer, and an energy of renewed self esteem, motivation, and personal power. By choosing this stone as your personal talisman, you are affirming to the universe that you are fully ready to realize your power, and welcome abundance into your life - in all its myriad forms.
Carnelian lights a fire in us.. inspiring creativity, courage, vitality, sexuality, and passion for life. It is useful in helping us overcome blockages in the form of past trauma, or areas where we hold a lot of fear.
The cording began life as recycled sari silk - cut into strips, prepared for natural dye, and in this case, dipped into a natural dye made from mugwort- one of my absolute favorite plant allies. The resulting color is a sumptuous golden green, and- like many natural dyes- may be subject to fading or color shifting over time.
After the lengthy dye process, I twisted the silk into cording - creating a secure yet adjustable closure with a tassel-like finish.
These pieces can be worn on the neck, or wrapped around the wrist - lots of versatility here. These are excellent layering choices, sitting beautifully with other stones or plain chain, giving a fun play of textures.
