“SilKIN” is my favorite collection of adornments to date.
Every inch of these talismans has been pored over, and imbued with intention, care, and connection to the natural world. I believe there is such a portal to the world of spirit - through the lens of nature.
This delicate gemstone is Moss Aquamarine - which has come into my orbit somewhat recently, and quickly skyrocketed to an absolute fave. Moss Aquamarine is blue beryl which has a higher iron content than regular Aquamarine, lending it a more greenish-blue hue - and slightly different energetic qualities. The inclusion of iron imparts an element of grounding and strength. Moss Aquamarine is the perfect stone for someone seeking tranquility and also strength, a peaceful and grounded heart.
The cording began life as recycled sari silk - cut into strips, prepared for natural dye, and in this case, dipped into Sumac berry infusion with mottling of iron gray. After the lengthy dye process, I twisted the silk into cording - creating a secure yet adjustable closure with a tassel-like finish.
The piece is designed to be worn either as a necklace, or wrapped around the wrist as a stunning bracelet. These are excellent layering choices, sitting beautifully with other stones or plain chain, giving a fun play of textures.
